Monongahela Valley Chapter, NSDAR

WELCOME

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR) is a non-profit, non-political volunteer women's service organization founded in 1890 by a small group of patriotic women. The DAR is dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America's future through better education for children.

Patriotism

Our chapter writes greeting cards for veterans and has donated approximately 800 Christmas cards annually. Our chapter also has participated in the Wreaths Across America program by purchasing and laying wreaths at the National Cemetery of the Allegheny, Cecil Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, since it opened in 1973.

Historic Preservation

Since 1928, our chapter has supported the Madonna on the Trail historical landmark in Beallsville, Washington County, Pennsylvania. Over the last almost 100 years, many members have kept the grounds around this historical landmark, landscaped, and funds have been donated to ensure its preservation.

Education

We are known for our annual DAR Good Citizens Award and Scholarship Luncheon in March.
